The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and hands-on General Manager to lead operations at a multi-level hospitality and events venue. The venue operates as a six-floor events space and bar on Friday and Saturday nights, while also hosting private and corporate events throughout the week during peak booking periods.

The General Manager will oversee the operational delivery of events across multiple floors, ensuring smooth coordination, high service standards, and effective leadership across all teams. While not all floors operate simultaneously, the role requires the ability to manage several events at once during busy periods.

This position requires strong pre-event planning to fully understand the organisational, staffing, and setup requirements ahead of each event. The General Manager will act as the senior operational lead on-site, ensuring the venue is fully prepared and events run seamlessly from setup through to close.

Key Responsibilities

Venue & Operations Management

  • Lead day-to-day venue operations, scaling management presence during busy trading periods and event-heavy schedules.
  • Oversee multiple floors during peak periods, ensuring efficient coordination between teams and events.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with local enforcement agencies, including police and council representatives, to support venue safety and integration within the local business community.
  • Ensure seamless communication across all venue staff to maintain smooth operational flow.
  • Conduct thorough pre-event preparation to understand event requirements, staffing needs, and venue setup.
  • Attend weekly operational meetings to review upcoming bookings and event schedules.
  • Ensure the venue is fully prepared and set up ahead of each event.
  • Oversee event execution from preparation through to close, maintaining high service and operational standards.

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a General Manager or senior hospitality management role.
  • Proven experience managing event-led or late-night hospitality venues.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organisational, and multitasking skills.
  • Solid beverage knowledge with strong attention to presentation and service standards.
  • Health & Safety certified and must hold a Personal License.
  • A proactive and hard-working leader who leads from the front.
  • Highly punctual and reliable, setting a strong example for the team.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic, bringing a positive attitude to both team culture and guest experience.
  • Able to remain calm, professional, and decisive under pressure.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.

Package

  • Approximate workload of 50 hours per week
  • Friday and Saturday night shifts are mandatory
  • Mid-week shifts scheduled based on event bookings
  • Working days and hours vary weekly depending on business needs
  • Combination of daytime and evening shifts requiring flexibility
